Tuition & Student Fees
Tuition is reviewed and set annually. A $150 tuition deposit is required when the student is accepted in the program to hold a position in the next year's class.

REFUND POLICY

Refunds will not be made to any student whose date of withdrawal is after the 60 percent point of the semester. After completing 60 percent of the semester, a student's account will be charged the full tuition for that semester.

Refunds to a student or funding agency, will be calculated using the "Return to Title IV" process. Refund of charges assessed to the student by the institution, will not exceed the portion of the payment period for which the student has been enrolled and remains unused on the last day of recorded attendance by the student. Refunds will be rounded downward to the nearest 10 percent of that period less any unpaid charges owed by the student for the payment period for which the student has been enrolled, and less an administrative fee of $150.00. Refunds will not be made until at least 30 days after withdrawal.

Students will not be charged for books, supplies or fees for which costs have not been incurred, if the books are returned unused, and in excellent condition, within 10 days of withdrawal from the programs.

Refunds will be credited to the Title IV Programs in the following order:

Federal Stafford Loans
Federal Pell Grants
FFEL Plus Loans

Scope of Practice for
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
The scope of practice for the Licensed Practical Nurse focuses on meeting the health care needs of patients/clients in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, doctors' offices and in the home. Licensed Practical Nurses work under the direction of the professional Registered Nurse and/or a licensed physician.

Purpose

The purpose of practical nurse education is to help the student acquire those attitudes, skills and knowledge essential to the role of a competent practical nurse.

Missouri Job Outlook
Employment for LPNs is projected to increase from 18,270 in 2006 to 18,850 by 2016. It is estimated that an average of 556 openings will be created largely by persons leaving the workforce.

Salary Range
The average salary for entry-level LPNs in Missouri is $26,100 ($12.55/hr.) to an average of $36,700 ($17.64/hr.) for experienced LPNs. The average hourly wage in Missouri is $15.95/hr.

Selection
All interested persons must first attend an Admissions Workshop at Pike-Lincoln. Completed application forms, official transcripts, and three (3) references must be received before the admissions committee can complete the final admission process. Each candidate’s file is evaluated to determine if criteria have been met. Candidates with completed files will be scheduled for an interview with the admissions committee. Students are selected each March for the program beginning that July/August. Therefore, interested parties are encouraged to attend an Admissions Workshop in the fall or early winter (no later than February).

Pre-Requisite Course: Students accepted into the Practical Nursing program will be required to successfully complete a pre-requisite math course prior to enrollment into the program. The math course will be taught by Pike-Lincoln Technical Center staff immediately prior to the start of the Practical Nursing program. The first ten students on the waiting list for the program will be invited to take the math course should space become available in the program. Students must earn an 82% or above in the math course to be enrolled in the Practical Nursing program.
